About AFSA

What is AFSA?

Founded in 2021 by alumni from 5 universities, AFSA has grown to 21 chapters representing colleges and universities across the nation whose members seek a return to true intellectual diversity in higher education. We are constantly looking to add more and encourage all our readers to introduce prospective groups to our leadership.

The Alumni Free Speech Alliance exists to preserve the pursuit of truth in American Higher Education. We do this by empowering alumni of American colleges and universities to form and run independent alumni organizations that support free speech, academic freedom, and viewpoint diversity at their alma mater.

Free speech, academic freedom, and viewpoint diversity are not only critical components of a quality higher education, but they also maintain the foundation of American society and culture. If these core values are lost at the institutional level, the consequences will be experienced by every American and have a chilling global effect for generations.

By forming an independently organized alumni group with AFSA, alumni provide much-needed support for faculty, staff, and students at their alma mater. AFSA chapter leaders and members also gain access to an always growing network of like-minded graduates across the country and numerous other benefits.

Why AFSA?

Becoming part of the Alumni Free Speech Alliance offers these benefits to new members and affiliate groups:
  • The additional clout that coordinated effort and action can deliver.
  • Participation in AFSA’s annual Free Speech Summit and conference.
  • Assistance in organizing and promoting events.
  • Mentoring relationships and the sharing of best practices within the network, via monthly webinars and ongoing email updates.
  • Expert assistance and advice at every step of the chapter-building process.
  • A comprehensive “Tool Kit” directory of third-party companies that provide needed services (banking, insurance, fundraising, website creation, management software systems, etc.) to our affiliates.
  • An interconnected social media network that helps amplify our voice and broaden our reach.
  • The camaraderie, inspiration and satisfaction that come from leading a grassroots movement that’s saving higher education one alma mater at a time.
